Testing the Quality of Sand

Testing the sand quality for concrete construction can be done in many ways. Aggregates that pass through 4.75mm IS sieve is called fine aggregate that contains natural sand, crushed gravel sand, crushed stone sand, broken brick, flash ash, and stone dust. Fine aggregate available at a reputable sand supplier Singapore  is checked for organic impurities like decayed vegetation humps, coal dust, and others.

A maximum quantity of silt in sand must not be more than 8 percent. Fine aggregate is graded into four zones based on particle size. Also, sand should not contain any harmful impurities like pyrites, iron, salts, alkalies, and coal. Based on bulking of sand, suitable water-cement ratio is calculated for concrete at site.
